DirectLOGIC CPUs provide the logic processing, I/O interface, and memory storage required for automated control. CPUs are available as PLC units that include a set of built-in I/O and one or more expansion slots, or in a rack-based configuration requiring a separate base unit and modular I/O. Power is supplied to the CPU and I/O modules from the power supply built into the CPU/PLC unit or from the power supply that is included within the base chassis. Various built-in and expandable serial and Ethernet communication options are offered with these CPUs/PLCs.
DirectLOGIC 205 and 405 series expansion I/O controller modules allow extra racks of I/O to be added to the local PLC.
DirectLOGIC 205 and 405 series remote I/O modules allow I/O to be located a great distance away from the local CPU. Remote I/O is ideal for segmented systems controlled by one main PLC or whenever it's more practical to mount the I/O near the machine being controlled.
PLC base units provide a means of housing and connecting installed I/O. Modular base units supply slots for interchangeable I/O connections to the backplane's data bus. DirectLOGIC 205 and 405 series base units are available with various slot configurations; the power supply is included with DL205 base units.
DC I/O modules monitor ON/OFF signals or control devices that switch DC power and are available in input, output, or combination input/output models with up to 64 points (depending on series).
AC I/O modules monitor and control ON/OFF type devices that operate with AC power (120VAC, 240VAC, etc.) and are available in input or output models with up to 16 points.
Relay modules can be used to operate higher current DC or AC rated devices and are available with up to 16 Form C (normally open/normally closed) and/or Form A (normally open) relay contacts.
Analog input, output, and input/output modules monitor and control pressure, temperature, flow, level, and other process signals. Modules are available in high-resolution current, voltage, combination voltage/current, and sensor-specific temperature models with support for a wide range of signals.
DirectLOGIC CPUs offer several built-in communication options. For systems with communication needs greater than what the CPU provides, optional networking modules are available. Serial converters are also offered for any needed serial protocol conversions.
Motion and specialty modules are designed to perform specific functions including input simulation and high-speed counting. High-speed inputs and outputs with up to a 250kHz switching frequency can be added with high-speed expansion modules. Simulator modules (for select DL series) provide a set of toggle switches for manually controlled testing and operations.
The ZIPLink connection module and cable system eliminates the normally tedious process of wiring programmable controller I/O to terminal blocks. ZIPLink modules are available for most DirectLOGIC series I/O modules.
Accessories for DirectLOGIC PLCs include I/O module terminal blocks, replacement batteries, programming cables, and DL06 LCD display modules. The DirectSOFT programming software is used for all DirectLOGIC controllers. A limited, demo version (PC-DS100) can be downloaded free of charge; the full-featured version can be purchased as a download or on a USB drive if needed.
