Motor Controls
AC and DC motors are used in a wide range of industrial applications to drive conveyors, pumps, fans, and more. For these applications, motor control devices such as simple ON/OFF switches, soft starters, or sophisticated variable frequency drives (VFDs) are essential to achieve the desired motion at the required torque and speed.

IEC Magnetic Motor Starters
IEC magnetic motor starters from WEG Electric and Eaton meet IEC standards to provide ON/OFF control for polyphase induction motors and protect them against running or stalled overcurrents. Options include open-frame models or units in pre-wired enclosures.
IEC Manual Motor Protectors
IEC manual motor protectors provide an all-in-one motor control/protection solution that integrates control, disconnecting means, and circuit protection into one device. Models are available in capacities up to 100A from brands such as Fuji Electric, Schneider Electric, WEG Electric, and IronHorse. A full line of accessories includes shunt trips, external handles, and mounting hardware.
IEC Magnetic Contactors
IEC magnetic contactors provide electrically operated load control for diverse load switching needs. Contactors are available in capacities up to 400A, from brands such as WEG Electric, Fuji Electric, Eaton, IronHorse, Schneider Electric, and AutomationDirect. Miniature contactors offer high horsepower ratings in a small footprint, while safety contactors feature mechanically-linked contacts to provide safe operation of machines and equipment.
IEC Overload Relays
IEC overload relays provide reliable and accurate electronic or thermal protection from device or component overload or phase loss. Units from Eaton, Fuji Electric, Schneider Electric, WEG Electric, AutomationDirect, and Ironhorse are available in a range of amperage capacities. Select models offer configurable parameters, self-powered operation, and communications capabilities.
Solid State Contactors

Solid state contactors provide compact electrically-operated load control and are available in reversing and non-reversing, in capacities up to 50A. Solid state contactor advantages include no moving parts, instant ON switching, and a very long electrical life.
Definite Purpose Contactors
Worldwide Electric definite purpose contactors are designed for application-specific use, such as HVAC or compressors, providing reliable load control that can handle diverse switching needs. These compact contactors are available in up to 60A capacities, in 1- or 3-phase configurations, and with coil voltages from 120 to 480 VAC.
Motor Disconnects & Controllers
Manual motor controllers and disconnects safely control and disconnect power from motors. UL 508 rated open frame and enclosed devices are available from reliable brands including Bryant, Merz, and Socomec.
Pin and sleeve interlocked motor disconnects provide convenient and safe connection for mobile equipment.
Motor Control Relays
Dold and ProSense brand motor control relays perform protective functions for motors and components to ensure proper and efficient operation.
- Phase monitoring relays detect faults in a 3-phase system (select models also provide fault monitoring for single-phase applications)
- Alternating relays balance load usage
- Pump seal failure relays monitor pump shaft seals
AC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
A wide range of AC variable frequency drives (VFD) is available for motor speed control and other industrial control applications.
- Micro variable frequency drives (VFD) enable speed control for AC motors at an affordable price in a compact footprint.
- General purpose variable frequency drives enable speed control for AC motors such as those in conveyors, fans, pumps and material handling.
- High-performance AC drives offer advanced features such as STO, closed-loop vector control and a built-in logic controller.
- NEMA 4X-rated drives are suitable for washdown-duty applications. They offer V/Hz, sensorless vector or field oriented vector control up to 30hp.
AC Motor Soft Starters
Stellar and WEG Electric solid state soft starters provide many advantages when used instead of electro-mechanical contactors, including reduced shock and starting stress on motors, resulting in an extended motor lifespan.
- Compact soft starters offer a reduced footprint for solid state motor control in ratings up to 85A (depending on series). Starters are available for 1- or 3-phase motors.
- Basic soft starters provide dependable performance on motor starts and stops, in ratings up to 412A (depending on series) and a selection of trip classes
- Full-featured soft starters are fully digital, and use thyristors in all three motor phases for controlled reduced voltage motor starting and stopping; available in ratings up to 950A, and AC or DC control voltages
DC Drives
IronHorse DC drives can accommodate from 1/50hp @ 12 VDC out (with 12 VDC in) up to 3hp @ 180 VDC out (with 240 VAC in). DC motors and drives can provide several advantages:
- Inexpensive
- Low speed performance
- Low speed power
- Simple
- DC drives typically use potentiometers for configuration
- No parameters or programming needed (for most models)
