The P2-550 CPU’s lightning fast processor executes your ladder code quickly and efficiently!
The performance benchmark used for testing the Productivity2000 includes 3K Boolean logic + 240 I/O points (the maximum amount of discrete I/O that will fit in a 15-slot base. The Productivity2000 P2-550 CPU executes this test with a scan time of 470 microseconds.
This processing power combined with 50Mb total memory means that there are practically no limits on the number of timers, counters, & PID loops for your application. And the powerful task management tools built-in to the software help you streamline your ladder code for maximum efficiency.
Supporting five built-in communication ports simultaneously, the P2-550 CPU handles all your communications needs without slowing the I/O throughput since it doesn't have to exchange data with separate communication modules over the backplane.
The P2-550 has an Ethernet port on-board, and EtherNet/IP support built-in - so there is no need to spend extra $ or waste a slot for Ethernet communications. And the wide variety of I/O modules , the ability to hot-swap I/O modules , and the innovative diagnostic capabilities of the analog modules assure that the Productivity2000 can handle your system's requirements for most any application.
Create a Remote I/O rack by simply installing a P1-RX or P2-RS Remote Slave module in the controller slot of an additional rack. Connect the remote racks to the master with standard Ethernet patch cords and switches. The Productivity2000 master will auto-detect all the I/O, and will create the physical I/O tags automatically. You are free to use the auto-configured settings or adjust them manually.
Install remote I/O racks wherever you need them! In the main enclosure when you have a large local I/O count, OR distribute remote racks to be closer to the actual I/O devices to minimize wiring length, complexity, AND COST. Mount remote racks at the other end of a machine, the other side of the plant floor, or in another building - and wire a single Ethernet cable back to the Master!
The Productivity Suite software will auto detect the Protos X field I/O system (using a Modbus coupler) connected to the Remote I/O port of the P2-550 and automatically assign tags to the installed I/O terminals. The configuration can be manually changed and it is saved within the PLC project.
The analog and temperature modules for the P2000 have a patented built-in OLED display on the front of the module. Get accurate process variable data (current, voltage and temperature) as well as system diagnostics in real time, just by reading the display on the Productivity2000 hardware. No tools required! That's much better than the significantly higher priced Allen Bradley temperature (or analog) module's blinking light.
Productivity2000 is all about productivity, even down to the wiring. Three wiring options are available to better serve the specific needs of your application. Two terminal blocks; one screw type, and one clamp type are available, as well as our ZIPLink wiring system. Why spend the time wiring each I/O point to a terminal when you can get them prewired? ZIPLink pre-wired cables and terminals not only save you valuable time but also keep your installation clean and efficient, which helps when troubleshooting, and ZIPLinks use half the space at a fraction of the cost of standard terminal blocks. Simply snap the ZIPLink connector to the I/O module, connect your field wiring to the ZIPLink terminal and your wiring job is done.
AutomationDirect strongly recommends the use of ZIPLink cables and wiring modules, which eliminate the need for hand wiring of I/O modules to terminal blocks. In fact, many of the Productivity2000 I/O modules do not include the terminal blocks for direct connection of I/O.
Note: ZIPLinks are available for most, but not all I/O modules.

Pull down the QR tab from top of I/O module, and scan with your smart phone or tablet QR app to get the latest updated specifications for that module.
Does this sound familiar: You're in the field and realize you have no documentation, no manual and the inserts and documentation that were included with the PLC when it was purchased were not kept in the panel.
Now you can quickly scan the QR code on any I/O module with a standard QR Code Reader on any smart phone or tablet and instantly you have installation details, module specifications and wiring diagrams at your fingertips!
Avoid costly shutdowns, production losses and long start-up operations with Productivity2000 hot-swappable hardware.
That's right, all the I/O modules for the Productivty2000 are hot-swappable! When used appropriately, this capability can save time and help avoid long start-up operations or other down-time related inconveniences. Now that can make you more productive!
Of course, it's up to the system designer to determine if hot-swapping is appropriate and safe for each application.
The Productivity2000 power supply delivers plenty of backplane power for any rack size and all the I/O modules that you select for your application. No need to worry about power budgeting with the Productivity Series!
Note: Power budgeting is the tedious process of adding up the power requirements of each module in a PLC and verifying that the power supply can handle the load. This is still required for many other PLC brands today.
