Inductive proximity sensors detect changes in their emitted electromagnetic fields to determine when a metal object has entered the field. These sensors will send a signal back to the controlling device whenever the presence of a metal object is being detected. IO-Link capable inductive proximity sensors can also provide diagnostic, performance, and configuration data along with the detection signal.
