Mechanical power transmission is the transfer of mechanical motion between two components. In most cases, the rotation of the primary mover is what causes the movement of the driven component. The driven component's movement may be rotational or linear based on application needs. Torque, speed, and direction may also be altered during this transfer of mechanical energy.

Linear Motion Slides and Actuators
Motor-ready linear actuators and sliding components turn rotary motion into linear motion, providing a variety of X-Y and X-Y-Z positioning system solutions. Options for mounting stepper or servo motors as well as a full selection of accessories are available to complete a linear motion system.
- Ball screw driven actuators - capable of high speeds and duty cycles
- Lead screw driven actuators - provide high performance for light or heavy loads at an economical price

Stepper Motor Linear Actuators
Stepper motor linear actuators are stepper motors that incorporate a lead screw as the rotor, which translates motor torque into linear thrust. These actuators are often used with undriven linear slides or linear shafts/linear supports.

Linear Guides and Rail Systems
Linear guides and rail systems are machine elements that support the movement of heavy objects in a straight line with minimal friction or resistance. Styles available include linear bearings and rails, and linear carriages and guides.
Linear bearings and rail products use continuously circulating ball bearings to provide high load capacities.

Linear carriage and guide products use V-shaped wheels to resist debris in dirty, dusty processes with ball bearings sealed inside the hub of the wheels. Internal and external carriage styles are available.

Guide tracks with slides use a proprietary, self-lubricating, PTFE coating to support loads across a wide temperature range. They offer smooth, quiet operation with vibration damping and shock resistance. No additional lubrication is required.

Precision Ground Linear Shafts / Bearings / Supports
Precision ground linear shafts, shaft supports, and bearings are a tight-tolerance means of supporting sliding linear loads while providing smooth operation with minimal maintenance. The shafts' surface finish is optimized for plain, ball, and roller bearings.

Helical Racks and Pinions
Rack and pinion systems are a type of linear actuator consisting of a rotating pinion that drives a linear rack, converting rotary motion to linear motion. Helical rack and pinion systems offer the most cost-effective installation for linear movements over 2 meters.
- Helical components are available with module pitches from 1.5 to 3.0
- Helical racks are available in 1-meter lengths, in tooth counts from 100 to 200 teeth
- Helical pinions are available in tooth counts from 18 to 40 teeth
Stainless Steel Worm Gearboxes
These heavy-duty, right-angle, stainless steel worm gear reducers offer exceptional value for applications where food-grade or corrosion resistant equipment is required.

Aluminum Worm Gearboxes

Aluminum worm gearboxes with NEMA input faces are lower-cost, medium-duty worm gearbox alternatives that feature a lightweight construction, and hollow-shaft outputs. These gearboxes mate directly to NEMA C-face and TC-face motors.

Aluminum Worm Gearboxes
(IEC Input)
Aluminum worm gearboxes with IEC input faces are lower-cost, medium-duty worm gearbox alternatives that feature a lightweight construction, and hollow-shaft outputs. These gearboxes mate directly to IEC B5 and B14 faced motors.

Helical Gearboxes
Like worm gearboxes, helical gearboxes drive a load at a reduced ratio of motor speed. Output torque is increased; horsepower is unchanged minus some efficiency losses. Helical gearboxes utilize helical gears with teeth that are cut at an angle. This causes a gradual engagement of teeth between gears, providing quieter operation, greater load capacity, and higher speed capability. This category includes:

High-Precision Inline Strain Wave Gearboxes
Strain wave gearboxes offer many advantages over planetary and helical gearboxes. Strain wave technology allows for a higher gear ratio and efficiency in an inline form-factor and smaller size. Many different gear ratios and output shaft sizes are available and are designed to work without SureServo2 and SureStepper motors.

Precision Gearboxes for Servomotors
The PGA series of inline planetary gearboxes has a thread-in mounting style, along with a level of precision and torque capacity that is best in its class. The PGB series of right-angle planetary gear reducers offers similar technical specifications to the PGA series and provides an excellent solution when space and clearance requirements are limited. PGD series gearboxes with compact design and hub-style output are ideal for equipment that requires high-speed, high-precision indexing movement. The LS Electric MSS series of high precision gear reducers are specifically designed to mate to LS Electric L7C and L7P series servo motors.

Precision Gearboxes for Small NEMA Motors
