Directional control valves are actuated in a variety of ways including manually, solenoid operated, and air piloted. Directional control solenoid valves use an electrical coil to control the position of a poppet, plunger, or spool to open or close a valve. Typical solenoid control voltages are 12VDC, 24 VAC/DC, 120VAC or 240VAC. Solenoid valves can be used to distribute air to cylinders, grippers, nozzles, and many other pneumatic devices or used to control the flow of hydraulic fluid to hydraulic motors or other actuators. Modular pneumatic solenoid valve banks and electro-pneumatic systems reduce wiring and plumbing, and increase control simplicity in pneumatic systems. Solenoid valves are available in a range of body styles and operating characteristics.

Solenoid valves are a popular control device in pneumatic systems and allow control of various and hydraulic devices using electrical signals.
Pneumatic solenoid valves are available in standalone valves, units for modular and electro-pneumatic systems, and ISO 5599/1 sized models designed to work seamlessly with systems that comply with the ISO 5599/1 standard.
Hydraulic solenoid valves are available in NFPA D03 and D05 patterns with 120 VAC or 24 VDC double solenoids.
Pneumatic Manifolds simplify installation and reduce the amount of plumbing needed for multiple standalone valves or, in the case of modular valves, help create a valve bank assembly. Manifolds are supplied with gaskets and hardware; blanking plates are used to cover unused slots. Bases are required for ISO 5599/1 solenoid valves and can be stacked to create a modular manifold.
Solenoid valve control interfaces allow simplified wiring by providing a bus coupler for an electro-pneumatic system or a modular valve bank to be controlled via an EtherNet/IP master; electrical distribution blocks streamline individual solenoid valve wiring.
The NITRA Pneumatic Automation Link (PAL) system is a modular, electro-pneumatic set of components that can include electrical I/O or pneumatic valves or both. Several I/O modules are available offering discrete DC input and outputs, analog inputs with support for various current and voltage ranges, and temperature inputs. The PAL system can support a combination of 16 digital input modules, 16 digital output modules, 4 analog input modules, and 4 analog output modules.
Accessories are available to assist with the installation and configuration of the various series and styles of solenoid valves, including:
