Thermal overload relays, when paired with IEC contactors, create across-the-line starters that reliably protect against device or component overloads. Modern design eliminates heater elements, and instead uses fixed bimetallic components. These Eaton, Fuji Electric, Schneider Electric, WEG Electric, and our own AutomationDirect and IronHorse brand overload relays are designed to mount directly to the corresponding series and size of the contactor, and will detect excessive current due to overloads, locked rotor current, or open phases which could result in damage to the motor windings.
