Category Selection
Encapsulated transformers are made by placing the transformer into a compact enclosure and filling the gaps with a thermally-efficient potting compound. This provides several distinct advantages including compactness, improved operator safety, superior cooling, better resistance to shock and vibration, and extended life.

HPS Fortress 1-Phase Encapsulated Transformers
HPS Fortress™ encapsulated transformers offer innovative design ideal for commercial applications where quality, ease of installation, and low cost are key. All Fortress units are encapsulated with electrical grade silica sand and resin compounds, which completely enclose the core and coil to seal out moisture, airborne contaminants and eliminate corrosion and deterioration. This type of unit is sometimes referred to as a potted transformer. 480V and 60Hz transformers are among the most popular models offered. Three series of encapsulated transformers are available:

Acme Electric 1-Phase Encapsulated Core Transformers
The Acme Electric line of encapsulated dry-type distribution transformers are optimized to provide long life in general purpose applications. These single-phase, encapsulated transformers include a metallic shield between the primary and secondary windings to attenuate transient noise. A UL Type 3R enclosure makes them suitable for indoor or outdoor service, while encapsulation eliminates corrosion and insulation deterioration.

Acme Electric 3-Phase Encapsulated Core Transformers
Dry-type encapsulated 3-phase distribution transformers from Acme Electric offer a UL listed, CSA certified and NEMA type 3R enclosure, which meets or exceeds all listing criteria including NEMA, ANSI and OSHA standards. Models over 9kVA offer an extra-large front access wiring compartment; 15kVA models offer top access for easier installation and cooler case temperatures. Completely enclosed style makes this series suitable for indoor/outdoor service.
