Vision systems incorporate an object detection sensor, a camera or cameras, and lighting to produce digital images of products/objects that can be analyzed to guide the manufacturing process. These systems can be used to check production output for flaws or verify an object's positioning before entering the next phase of production. Applications include part orientation for pick and place systems, verifying proper application of tamper-proof seals, or checking solder connections in circuit board production.

Vision sensors are intelligent self-contained systems that can be taught what images represent a quality product or proper object orientation. Comparing this data with real-time product images, the sensor can determine a pass/fail or good/no good condition and trigger the corrective actions. Verifying fill level, cap orientation, and label presence as product exits a bottling line is one example of an application these sensors are designed for. They can even make complex decisions involving the color of a product for quality assurance purposes.
2D cameras are simple-to-use yet advanced self-contained vision systems that provide reliable image-based detection. These cameras are machine-mountable and perform many operations, such as contour detection or BLOB analysis. This family of vision sensors excels at solving many error-proofing and inspection applications for a fraction of the cost of other vision systems and sensors. They are suitable for many industrial, quality, and process applications.
3D vision sensors are advanced self-contained vision systems that use time-of-flight technology to measure the distance of numerous points on an object within the sensor's field of view. They are machine-mountable and useful for volume detection and surface dimensioning in many industrial and process applications.
Several accessories are available to help with vision sensor installation and communication.
