Breathers are designed to allow air to enter the enclosure to equalize the pressure within the enclosure with the outside environment. Drains remove unwanted moisture from an enclosure. Both devices perform their functions while maintaining the enclosure's NEMA protection rating.

Breathers and Drains
Excess humidity and condensation in an enclosure can lead to component corrosion, short circuits and electrical arcs, diminished performance, and expensive down time. Therefore, preventing condensation buildup is a must with electrical enclosures.
Breathers offer a practical and economical solution to maintain low humidity levels within an enclosure by allowing air flow in and out of the sealed environment within.
For condensation or any fluids, such as water or oil, that manage to accumulate within the enclosure, drains provide a path to remove these fluids while maintaining the IP ratings of the enclosure.
