The C-more HMI (human machine interface) is one of the best values in industrial HMI. Not only do you get competitive pricing but the ease of setup and use will save you even more.
In this video, it is detailed how to quickly import your RSLogix 500 PLC project tags, from your RSLogix 500 Programming software, into your C-more HMI Touch panel. This includes the PLC5, SLC 500 CPUs, MicroLogix 1000, MicroLogix 1100, MicroLogix 1200, Micrologix 1400, and the MicroLogix 1500 PLCs.
This video is part of the C-more setup videos that give direction on how to import tags from different platforms into the C-more Industrial HMI software. These are quick and easy HMI Programming tutorials, that help you to integrate your control system.
With the C-more HMI you can quickly integrate your RSLogix 500 project tags. This process works for all these CPUs, that are programmed using the RSLogix 500. So, open up you RSLogix 500 project. Now, the big caveat with this tag import is that you can only import memory addresses that have the symbols assigned to that address. For example, if I open up my data files, here you can see the “symbols” that I have applied to these addresses. If you do not have these symbol nicknames applied to these registers, they will not import into the C-more. To start the import process, go to Tools, Database and then ASCII Export. Select here, on the CSV tab and this is the export that you are looking for. Select OK and save the file. Open up the C-more software and you will see this start up wizard. Name your project, select your panel type, and under PLC Protocol you have quite a few options for this connection. These are the serial connections for these CPUS, and these are for ethernet for the different processors. Now, I am going to continue this demonstration with the ethernet connection to a MicroLogix 1400 CPU. Now, click here on Protocol setup and you will need to define the IP address of the MicroLogix CPU. For the most part these defaults will work for most systems. Once you are done, click OK and then OK once again. That starts your project, now let’s import the tags. There are two ways you can import your tags. You can go to File, Import and then Tag Name Database or open up the Tag Tame Database from here and select Import. Select the CSV file we created earlier. Select the device that you are connecting these tags with. If you are wanting to append the tag names that you are importing, place that text here. And if you would like to overwrite existing tags, select this option. Once you have those options setup, select to Import. My tags successfully imported, and I can see them now in my tag database. I can also select here and use the filter to display only the tags for that device. Now that everything is imported, make sure to setup the IP address of the C-more. Select here, on Ethernet Port. Enter in the IP Address info. Once that is done send the project to the panel and start building you control screens. And that is just how easy it is to integrate your C-more with your RSLogix500 CPU.
