AutomationDirect provides a full line of air prep components from brands such as Norgren and Nitra. Industrial pneumatics requires clean, dry air with enough capacity to provide the required flow and pressure. The process of filtering, regulating (and sometimes lubricating) this compressed air is known as "Air Prep". Along with filters and regulators, your air prep solution may require lubricators, additional filters, and manual or electric shutdown valves. Filters are necessary to reduce particulate contaminants and separate moisture from the compressed air. A Moisture and Particulate filter is the most common filter type. Coalescing filters provide additional filtration and are used to remove oil from the air system. Vapor filters are the finest filter and typically use carbon filter elements to remove oil vapor and odor. Using all 3 Norgren filters can achieve air purity to Class 0 according to ISO 8573-1. The regulator is typically selected to match the port size of the upstream filter and to meet the demand pressure of the devices. Many machines require that a minimum or maximum operating pressure must be maintained. In many instances, the regulator is incorporated into the Moisture Particulate filter. Pneumatic air supply lubrication can increase speed, slow wear, and reduce leakage in and around operating components. Lubricators are typically required for air-operated hand tools such as grinders, impact wrenches, etc. If needed, a lubricator should be installed as close to the devices requiring lubrication as possible since the lubricant does not stay in suspension over long piping runs. But you might not need lubrication. Many of today's pneumatic devices (such as valves and cylinders sold by AutomationDirect.com) don't require lubrication, so check the manufacturers' recommendations. AutomationDirect offers all of these air prep components from brands such as Norgren and Nitra. Soft start dump valves allow downstream pressure to gradually rise on initial start-up, before fully opening to deliver line pressure. The dump function allows the system to be exhausted quickly when required, particularly in the event of a power failure or emergency stop. Manual and solenoid operated shut down valves allow you to shut off air to downstream components and relieve downstream pressure. Often the manual models allow for a padlock attachment for lockout/tagout. We offer many frame sizes and flexible mounting and connection options. If you use the same frame size components you can simply use these collar type connectors instead of pipe or tubing to interconnect. You can even use some of the collar styles for mounting.
