This is a multi-scan instruction, because it takes multiple scans to complete, it cannot be used in either Subroutines or Interrupt Service Routines. It can used in Programs and under special circumstances it can also be used in Stages inside of a Program or in Tasks. See the help topic “Instruction Set Chart” for more information. This instruction takes input pulses and measures the time between leading edges and converts them to a rate based upon the timeout and the Frequency units you select here. If you find your output to be erratic, use the filter, to smooth the reading. If the filter is not enough to smooth the reading, try increasing the timeout time
