This instruction can be used to perform simple and very complex mathematical operations. This instruction can also do much more than just math. The help file for the Math instruction provides a full listing of operators allowed for this instruction. The format used to enter in these formulas is similar to that used in spreadsheets or other common programming formats. As you enter in your formulas the instruction will check for proper format. When you have a completed formula the status indicator will switch from Red to green. Now for the biggest thing missed in the math instruction. If a whole number integer is entered into your formula then then math instruction will execute integer based math. This will cause truncating at each operation level that integer math is used. To avoid using integer math enter a decimal point after the integer. If you are not concerned with the accuracy on the final result, it is best to stay with integer math because it does not affect scan time as much as floating point math does.
