Nitra PAL Pneumatic solenoid and IO distribution system Integrates via Ethernet/IP to ControlLogix or CompactLogix.
In this video we will detail the process of creating an Ethernet/IP device, in ControlLogix or CompactLogix, adding an AOI to handle the Nitra PAL in ControlLogix or CompactLogix, and pass data between the Nitra PAL and ControlLogix or CompactLogix
This video assumes you have already configured the PAL. If you have not already configured please see this video https://youtu.be/O6FOZGUzmJw
AutomationDirect NITRA PAL or Pneumatic Automation Link is a highly versatile and scalable remote I/O and pneumatic system integrated via Ethernet/IP. AutomationDirect has made it simple to integrate the NITRA Pneumatic Automation link with RS Studio 5000. We’ve created an EDS and an add-on instruction. Follow this link or scan this QR code to get all the software and documentation for your system. Import the EDS through the tools menu. Point to the download from our site. Once the EDS is imported, you can create a new module for your NITRA PAL. It is easiest to start typing NITRA in the filter to find this. Provide a name for the PAL and specify the IP address. Under connections click, "Change" and add an exclusive owner message. Click “Yes” and close out the window. Then import the AOI by right clicking on the add-on instructions. Find the file from the previous download, click "Open", then "OK". The import brings in all the necessary parameters, tags, and logic. Now, in the main routine insert the NITRA_PAL_MapData_AOI. The other AOIs run in the background and should not be added to your logic. For the NITRA_PALMapData_AOI field, create a new tag of the NITRA_PALMapData_AOI data type – this is default. Use the drop-down to pick the IO_InputData and the IO_OutputData. Create a new tag for the PAL_unit_reference field. This will be PneumaticAutomationLink_UDT data type, again default. This tag can be used to assign a number to the AOI if you have multiple PAL systems to integrate. For a single unit you do not need to populate this tag. Now, all of our parameters and tags have been created and we can download to the CPU. In the tag monitor, we can see the data acquired from the PAL. Here I am forcing the outputs and verifying my valve's respond. That’s it. A few minutes and we are ready to run.
