AutomationDirect sells thousands of pneumatic products, including Pneumatic Air Tubing. Tubing comes in a large variety of materials, sizes, and colors. Material type and size are determined by your application. These are available in inch and metric sizes usually smaller than one inch. tubing must be sized to provide sufficient airflow to your devices. Remember to specify tubing using the outside diameter, unlike hoses which are sized by the inside diameter. Polyurethane is the most flexible of the materials commonly used to make tubing. Polyurethane is strong, flexible, and has an excellent kink resistance compared to other material types. It has a working pressure of 150 psi or higher and is the most commonly used tubing material. It sometimes has UV stabilization as an option for outdoor use. Nylon is a harder plastic and is less flexible, making this a good choice for air distribution and straight run piping applications. Notable advantages of nylon are its higher working pressure up to 800 psi, and temperature range up to 200°F, and it has excellent chemical resistance. PTFE tubing, sometimes sold as Teflon, has several notable properties including high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance, and good dielectric properties. PTFE tubing can handle temperatures up to 500°F, is chemically inert, and can be used in applications sensitive to static electricity, and is common in food and beverage industries.
