Ultrasonic sensors emit a sound impulse and measure the elapsed time of the echo from an object. They sense most materials and are unaffected by color, transparency, shininess, or lighting conditions. Models are available with discrete or analog outputs, in sensing distances up to 8000mm.

Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors
Category Selection
Ultrasonic proximity sensors provide reliable contactless object detection by using ultrasonic wave reflection. These sensors emit a high-frequency sound impulse and measure the elapsed time for the reflected signal to return from the target. Their ultrasonic beams are not affected by colored, transparent, or shiny objects. Ultrasonic proximity sensors can perform distance measurements regardless of contamination, such as dirt, dust, mist, or ambient light. As a result, ultrasonic sensors are ideal for challenging applications such as:
- Level measurement for tanks containing solids or liquids
- Diameter or loop detection for materials such as paper, sheet iron, etc.
- Transparent object detection for plastic or glass bottles, plastic filters, etc.

18mm Tubular
18mm tubular ultrasonic proximity sensors provide sensing distances up to 2200mm and are available in rugged stainless steel or plastic housings with an IP67 protection rating.

Rectangular
Rectangular ultrasonic proximity switches, in diffuse and through-beam styles, offer sensing ranges up to 2000mm, rugged plastic housings, and protection ratings up to IP68.

- Up to 150 Hz switching frequency
- 10-30 VDC or 18-30 VDC operating voltage

Accessories for Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors
A variety of mounting brackets and adapters are available for affixing ultrasonic proximity sensors including axial, right-angle, and swivel-mount models in various materials including plastic, plated steel, or stainless steel. Spare hex nuts are also available.
Sensor Tester
Sensor testers save time by determining if a sensor is functional before installation. This unit is lightweight and compact so it can be stored in a desk drawer and carried in a pocket. It includes a rechargeable battery and micro-USB charging cable.
