Many safety systems require more than one specialty safety relay but don't quite justify the need for a safety controller. For those applications, safety programmable and configurable relays can provide the safety required without unnecessary components, reducing the number of safety relays used while keeping setup simple.

Schmersal PROTECT SRB-E configurable relays support several applications and monitor conventional safety devices such as interlocking devices, position switches, safety sensors, emergency stop devices, magnetic safety sensors, optoelectronic safety devices, and two-hand control devices. Additional models are available to provide standstill monitoring and safety timer functions. These relays have a simple rotary switch setup. Depending on model:
The Schmersal PROTECT SELECT programmable relay is an easy-to-set-up monitoring device that closes the gap between conventional safety relay modules and complex safety controllers, requiring no programming experience. This device can simultaneously monitor up to 4 separate safety circuits, replacing up to 8 individual safety relays. Each safety circuit has its own safety program. Select from 4 pre-configured programs that can be chosen and modified to meet your application needs. This module provides monitoring of all common safety sensors, including emergency stop devices, safety light curtains, safety switches, four-wire safety mats, two-hand control devices, and safe monitoring of analog signals.
The Schmersal safety extension relay adds additional safety contacts and signaling outputs to any safety relay that supports a feedback loop provided by the expansion relay.
