EtherCAT Motion PLCs

EtherCAT networking uses Ethernet media to provide extremely fast, real-time communication with a variety of nodes that can be synchronized for the highest precision.
Other advantages include:

LS Electric XMC motion controllers are fast and powerful controllers purpose built for motion control. Select a specific XMC controller for either 8 or 16 axes of EtherCAT motion control (with up to 18 virtual axes).
LS Electric XGB PLCs are powerful compact controllers that can be combined with EtherCAT positioning modules for up to 16 axes of EtherCAT based motion control. Expand the motion capabilities even further with embedded high-density I/O (on select models)

LS XMC Programmable Motion Controllers

The XMC controller is a full EtherCAT master, meaning it can communicate with any EtherCAT-capable device including up to 16 EtherCAT servo or stepper systems and up to 32 remote EtherCAT I/O racks. The XMC utilizes the powerful XG5000 software to configure and program all the control logic for advanced motion as well as basic PLC applications.
- Brick-style controllers with built-in discrete/analog I/O and two encoder inputs (for full-closed-loop control)
- Coordinate up to 16 axes of EtherCAT motion (with up to 18 virtual axes)
- Expand I/O with up to 32 EtherCAT remote I/O racks (with XEL-BSSCT bus coupler)
- Extremely fast processing capabilities, with scans as low as 5ns, and EtherCAT cycle times of 0.5/1/2/4ms
- Various single-axis and multi-axis operations including speed, feed, and torque control; registration; flying shear; and a host of additional application-specific processes
- Programmable Limit Switch (PLS)
- Up to 32 CAM profiles
- Full G-code (and M-code) interpreter for traditional CNC machines such as mills, lathes, and router tables
LS XGB PLC Motion Components
LS Electric XGB PLCs are powerful controllers with many advanced features including several IEC-based programming languages. These PLCs come with embedded support for basic motion control applications; up to 2 EtherCAT master positioning modules can be added for up to 16 axes of precise motion. The XGB PLC uses the advanced XG5000 programming software for PLC logic operations, and the XG-PM application for motion axis setup and testing.
