DC drives are used for controlling the speed of a DC motor. These drives convert an AC or DC input into the needed DC supply for the motor using a rectifier circuit. This supply can be varied to control the motor's speed.
DC motors and drives are suitable for many applications including conveyors, turntables, and others for which adjustable speed and constant or low-speed torque are required. They also work well in dynamic braking and reversing applications, which are common in many industrial machines.
